2024-05-03

Konami recently has published many of games from MSG series. Unfortunately they didn't included MSG4 and (whats worse) MSG Peace Walker.

Get the ISO

MSG Peace Walker Box with UMD Disk

Because you have the original copy of MSG Peace Walker (like I do), you can just backup your UMD Disk be using your PSP.

😏 You wouldn't pirate it of course. It would be a crime 😱, which I discourage you of doing 🤬

PPSSPP

We will be using PPSSPP as an emulator.

PSP version of this games, lacks thew quality of life features, that are present in newer releases.

Fortunately we can add them throw mods.

Thou, before it run this game at list once.

HD Textures of Hud / UI

You can download the pack from this forum post.

Extract and place it inside 📁 <PPSSPP Config Location>/PSP/TEXTURES/ULUS10509.

If you have any issues, check out previously mentioned forum post.

Cheats: 60 FPS & Analog Stick

Download ULUS10509.ini and place it inside 📁 <PPSSPP Config Location>/PSP/Cheats.

This file is created for USA regions version (ULUS10509).

Problem with those hacks is that you need to have a specific game version. If you have a different one (NOT ULUS10509, check out your UMD Disk), then you can recreate it by going inside those blog posts and mashing cheats together like I have done for my version.

Enable cheats ⚙️ Game Settings > System > Cheats > Enable Cheats and then you can enable specific cheats in ⚙️ Cheats menu.

Remember to setup your right stick controls in ⚙️ Game Settings > Controls > Controll Mapping > Extended PSP controls.

PPSSPP Best Settings

It depends on your machine, so just play with them.

Why PSP version?

After original PSP release. There were two major HD edition versions published.

One for PS3 and another for Xbox 360. Both of them are better then the original (hd textures and analog controls) and both can be played throw emulation. Respectively, Xbox 360 version throw Xenia and PS3 version throw Rpcs3.

My only problem with those is that they will take much more processing power then emulating PSP version throw PPSSPP.

By using this method you can play on many more machines and have quite nice battery time on my Steam Deck Oled.
